Two separate NSW council buildings have been evacuated after being sent white powder in the mail.

Four staff at Clarence Valley Council in Grafton were taken to hospital as a precaution after a staff member opened an envelope containing powder on Tuesday morning, a council spokesperson told AAP.

Three people were treated by emergency services following a white powder incident at a Coffs Harbour City Council building on the same day, police say.
