A grandfather who ate black ants to survive six days lost in Australia's outback has broken his silence.
62-year-old Reg Foggerdy went missing in Western Australia's Goldfields region on October 7 while out hunting for a camel.
According to the Daily Mail, he was found thanks to an Aboriginal man who helped track him.
Foggerdy spoke to 7 News about his ordeal and eating ants to stay alive, saying they tasted "quite good."
The retired mining worker ate 12 the first day, and 18 the next.
Inevitably, Foggerdy's organs began to shut down as the days went on without water and substantial food.
He said he had done everything he could to attract the attention of searchers, so accepted his fate and lay down under a tree.
"I had given up.
"I don't know why I survived."
Rescuers found Foggerdy lying motionless under the tree, dehydrated and needing medical attention.
He was transported to the nearest hospital.
