A depraved rapist remains holed up in a Melbourne house 12 hours after he was cornered by police.
Antonio Loguancio, 40, was tracked down to the house in Justin Avenue, Glenroy, on Friday night.
Loguancio had been wanted by police after he broke a supervision order.
He is alone in the house but it is not known whether he is armed.
Dozens of police are at the scene and the road is blocked.
Paramedics and fire crews are also in attendance.
Curious residents, some in pyjamas, continue to walk past the quiet suburban street.
Police have reassured them they're safe and offered them the option to leave and stay in a safe haven if they wish.
Police say Loguancio is a significant risk to the community after breaching a supervision order by assaulting his partner and then going in to hiding.
He threatened to harm himself and others after making contact with police while on the run.
Loguancio had been released on a supervision order after being jailed for 12 years for multiple counts of rape, assault and other offences.
