A woman will face court charged with animal cruelty after allegedly throwing her dog out the window of a unit complex in Sydney's west.

Police say a dispute between a 24-year-old woman and a male friend took place in a Kingswood unit about 3:45 pm yesterday (AEDT), alleging the woman picked up the dog and threw it out her bedroom window 15 metres above the ground.

The dog was treated by a vet for a broken leg, broken teeth and suspected internal injuries and will remain in care whilst undergoing further tests.

The woman was later charged with cruelty to an animal causing serious injury and was refused bail to appear in Parramatta Local Court later today.
