The Washington Times has sounded the death knell for its sports section.
According to AFP, the final edition of the sports section will appear on Friday.
The financially troubled newspaper laid off more than 40 per cent of its 370 employees earlier this month, including staff from the sports department.
"Times sports section is kaput," one reporter tweeted. "Make sure to call and cancel subscriptions after Friday."
The Times also revealed last week it would no longer publish a Sunday edition, along with plans to distribute the paper for free in targeted locations.
