A conference hosting a range of speakers drew hundreds of Rotarians to Whangarei this weekend.
The Rotary District 9910 Conference - the 9910 area capturing clubs north of the Auckland Harbour Bridge and from Norfolk Island, New Caledonia and Vanuatu - brought about 200 people associated with the clubs to Whangarei.
It also drew governors and their partners from six South Korean Rotary districts.
The annual conference began with registration, drinks and nibbles at A'Fare on Friday but officially opened with a powhiri on Saturday morning.
Saturday's events included talks from a range of people including Whangarei MP Shane Reti and Sarah Brown, chief executive of the Purple Truck mobile rental dialysis unit, which travels to remote communities to help indigenous people from Australia get home whilst still receiving treatment for kidney disease.
It also featured speeches from students who were involved in the Rotary Youth Exchange Programme where 15 to 18-year-olds go overseas or come to New Zealand for a year and live with different families during that period to get a broader experience of the hosts country and life.
One of those speakers was Lewis Paul who went to Chile.
The conference concluded yesterday with a few more presentations followed by morning tea.
