A Wellington bank was robbed in broad daylight at lunchtime today.
Police are investigating the "aggravated robbery" of BNZ on Jackson St, Petone, at midday.
Jackson St business The Chocolate Story owner Brent Nicholls said he didn't see what had happened but saw police.
"I didn't hear or see anything. It was really quiet and next thing I know cops were everywhere."
Officers were looking for a stockily built man of Maori or Pacific descent.
He was wearing a light-coloured top, dark pants and a black beanie and had a bag slung over his shoulder.
The man left the bank and walked east along Jackson St, Petone's main street.
