A teenager accused of a vicious attack on an elderly couple made a brief appearance in court today and has still not entered a plea.
Hohepa Wallace, 17, was again remanded without plea in custody and will reappear in Porirua District Court on Friday.
It was his third appearance since he was charged after a Waikanae home invasion in which an elderly couple were seriously injured.
Judge John Walker said this morning the defence and prosecution "need to make some progress" as the case was stalling.
The couple were assaulted and had their car stolen about six weeks ago.
Wallace's lawyer said she was waiting to hear from the police officer in charge of the investigation and was seeking "a key piece" of information before progressing.
An application for electronically-monitored bail was scheduled for next Wednesday, February 4.
