Former All Black Michael Jones has been presented with a National Peacebuilder award as part of New Zealand's World International Day of Peace celebrations.
Organiser Brother Patrick Lynch said Jones had provided inspiration and hope for not only his Pacific people, but for all of Aotearoa.
"He has shown that it is possible to live peacefully and promote peaceful behaviour, despite provocation," Brother Lynch said.
"His idealism, enthusiasm and energy have made a significant difference for good over many years."
Recent New Zealand recipients include Andrew Ladley, for his work in East Timor with the United Nations, and Trevor Grice, for his work in educating young people about illegal drugs.
