A massive cloud is looming over parts of West Auckland, bringing with it hail up to the size of 20c coins as well as thunder storms.
Several schools are closed, Dunedin's Northern Motorway is also closed and bus services are affected as snow and ice settle around the city this morning.
Wild weather across the country has brought down power lines and trees. Meanwhile down in the South Island, heavy snow is falling.
