Strong winds are disrupting flights in Wellington.
Three flights into the Capital have been diverted while at least 11 more have been cancelled.
MetService meteorologist Sarah Haddon says strong winds from the north picked up late this afternoon.
Gusts are blowing at around 105 kilometers per hour on the ground but they're even stronger above the city, Haddon said.
"Gusts about the higher ground are up to about 130km/h."
"Out by the airport and the Cook Straight it will be very strong and very gusty," she said.
A front is approaching the city from the west and winds are expected to weaken in the early hours of tomorrow.
Seven departing flights have also been cancelled.
