The Wanganui Croquet Club has completed the first of their two major tournaments for the summer with 31 players entering the Jane Winestone Golf Croquet tournament for two days of competition last weekend.

Palmerston North's John Wall was the winner of the Triple A singles, with Hawera's Malcolm McDowell the runnerup.

In the A singles, Hawera's Prue McDowall was the outright winner, with Bruce Perkins was runnerup.

The B singles was won by Marton's Marilyn Vallance with Les Purdy second.


Entering the doubles on Sunday, Hawera's Gerald Allan and Malcolm McDonald were winners, followed by Feilding's Sharon and Mike Bell.

In the A section, Ken and Prue McDowell claimed the title, followed by fellow Hawera players Leila Martin and Dorothy Hughes.

The club's Association Championship Singles tournament will be held on March 11-12.
