The football component of the NZMG remains popular as ever with both weekends maintaining and exceeding their entry numbers at Wembley Park, the co-ordinators say.
The six-a-side tournament was played February 4-5 at the park, with 113 players across five men's teams and seven mixed squads.
"Same as the last games," said co-ordinator Phil Randal.
"Had Auckland come down again in the men's, but we had a few new ones."
Every team got eight games each over the two days, as the men's grade played in two round robins - which was won by locals Super Sub.
The mixed grade played each other once and then entered a playoffs format, where another local team in K.A.O.S got the gold medal.
The abbreviated form of the game serves as the warmup to three days of action for the 11-a-side tournament, with co-ordinator Peter James having his hand full with 43 teams, made up of 700 registered people.
"That's five teams [more], we're up on the last Masters, been an awesome tournament," he said.
Some of the furthermost travelled came from the Hibiscus Coast and Auckland city, while others had come from Taupo and some teams had import players from Australia.
The finals were being held yesterday afternoon.
