Wanganui golfing sensation Tara Raj has added another feather to her cap after being named Eagle Junior Golfer of the Year.
Twelve-year-old Raj, ranked in the top three for Under-15 girls in the country, has had an excellent year - becoming the youngest Wanganui Women's Open Champion, winning the Wanganui Golf Club's Open Senior Women's Championship, winning the Manawatu-Wanganui Women's Strokeplay and playing No3 for the Manawatu-Wanganui Women's representative team.
She will be in action for Manawatu-Wanganui at the Toro Interprovincial tournament in Ashburton on December 8-12. She is among the youngest golfers to play in the Toro Interprovincial.
Auckland has dominated this championship in recent years winning the last four.
During the year the youngster made vast improvements, shaving 8 strokes off her handicap.
Now on a 4.9 handicap, Raj, however, had a less than memorable day at Foxton on Sunday in the district Champion of Champion's tournament.
The competition brings the senior, intermediate and junior club champions from each club together to compete against each other to determine the champion combined team and individual champions in each division for the year. Raj placed third in her division in wet and windy conditions.
