Wanganui Squash Club's C Grade team won their grade's Central Districts Regional Superchamps at the weekend, taking the title after coming from behind to win the final against arch-rivals Squashgym Palmerston North.
Wanganui were the No1 seeds ahead of clubs from Ohakune, New Plymouth, Tararua, Okato, Inglewood, and Palmerston North.
Coach John Roestenburg sent they went through pool play with 5-0 wins over Inglewood and Ohakune to set up the Sunday final with Squashgym.
Wanganui were down by two matches before turning the tables to win the last three encounters and take the tie 3-2.
They have now qualified for the national competition in September, where all 10 regional champions will converge on Taumaranui.
It is another tilt at a title for the club, after winning the E Grade competition in 2013 and the D Grade in 2012.
"This win put the record of the extended squad through these competitions for the past four years at 95 per cent with 20 team wins and one loss," said Roestenburg. "The one loss being against Palmerston North ... which made this year's win even more enjoyable."
The Wanganui team was Shane Stone, Shanan Whitlock, Brett McKenzie, James van Kerkhoff, Nathan Wall and Rob Moore.
