It will be all on again this Easter Weekend for the 2014 Low Down Derby Throw Down, one of the biggest days on the calendar for Wanganui's roller-derby girls.
The River City Rollers are the host club for the second annual weekend which includes training seminars and challenge bouts on Friday and Saturday at Jubilee Stadium, before teams will be selected for an "All Stars" game on Sunday evening.
About 100 skaters and officials headed to Wanganui last year when the event was held at Springvale Stadium. The Rollers' leader, Mel-icious Mayhem, aka Melanie McGhie, is expecting a similar number as they come from Northland through to Dunedin.
Five members of the Rollers were chosen among the 28 skaters for last year's All Star game, three playing for the "Black" team and the others for "White", with McGhie saying the teams this year will be selected from the Friday night trial.
"I know they're going to be stacked with Team NZ players."
Four international coaches will attend the camp, known by their pseudonyms of "Smarty Pants", "Jackie Daniels", "Kasey Bomber" and referee "Fir Osis".
The public can attend the Friday and Saturday sessions with a gold-coin entry.
The "All Stars" game at Jubilee Stadium will be $10 to watch, with under-12s free.
Doors open at 6pm with the event starting at 7.30pm, with refreshments available for purchase.
