If you can get past the first leg, tonight's greyhound quaddie at the Hatrick Raceway looks achievable.
As usual the four-leg multiple bet kicks off on race 9 at 8.10pm.
The form locally trained Sassafras brings into this sprint is fairly ordinary looking on paper. It is best to ignore that, as her last start was in Auckland and before that she took on a handy Palmerston North field. She will enjoy racing back on this track and her career record says she enjoys racing from the one trap, where she leaps from tonight.
Kennelmate Planking is resuming from a month off and he is capable of producing a cheeky fresh effort. Corby has been contesting stronger recent fields than this and his claims cannot be overlooked. Cawbourne Cookie brings sound enough wide-trap form into this sprint to suggest that she could swoop on them.
Darlyne Ottey continues to dominate the open class 520m chasers and tonight should be no exception, especially as she is leaping from her preferred inside trap. From there a repeat of last Friday's pace-making win is likely in tonight's second leg. If she does make a mistake at the start, then her fresh-up kennelmate Three Inch Nail is more than capable of being able to capitalise. Ooh La Cool has gamely chased after Darlyne Ottey on the last two Friday nights. She has drawn to do likewise. And Barry's Way struck traffic problems last Friday. He is talented enough to make his presence felt should he receive a clear racing passage.
Complicit continues to front up each Friday and he continues to turn in competitive sprints. Watch out for another strong effort in the third quaddie leg.
Ciao For Now is a railing sprinter, so drawing out wide isn't exactly where he wants to draw. However, he can negate that by making a swift start. Rosemore Osti was impeded last week; she owns smart enough form to suggest she can feature if she secures early racing room.
Guru Goose was too slick for his opposition from the wide trap he exited last Friday. A similar slick sprint is likely from the ace trap tonight. Donna Baxter can swiftly ping away from the traps and she could vie for the early pace. Kennelmate Jumpin' Julia returns to open class sprinting after winning a lower-graded sprint from the eight trap last week. She draws the same trap tonight. And the strong-finishing Ima Spice can never be ignored.
