Whanganui police are going back to base for this year's police open day.
In recent years the open day has been held at the Whanganui River Traders Market but this year the Bell St Police Station will host the event on Sunday, March 11.
Senior Sergeant Andrew McDonald said the open day will run from 10am to 2pm with displays from various policing groups and tours of part of the police station.
"We want to give the public an opportunity to see what we do and some of the tools and gear that we have," Mr McDonald said.
"Details are still being finalised of all the activities but people will be able to see what various policing groups within the station, like our dog team, armed offenders squad, search and rescue and youth aid team, do."
Police recruiting information will be available on the day, Mr McDonald said.
"It's a good opportunity to come and talk to local police about what we do. If you're interested in a career in the New Zealand Police, you can get some information and see if it's something you can get excited about."
