We asked people in Whanganui how they were coping with the heat and here's what they said:
Siitu Hawley, Whanganui
"I actually love it. It's not a worry at all. We've been out in the sun most days and the kids seem to enjoy it. We have had to get the fans out and the cold flannels, plus we've been swimming heaps. It does seem to be hotter than last year but let's hope it stays this way I say."
Mark Hetherington, Whanganui
"I don't cope at all with the heat. It's far too hot for me. Even though I've been living in Whanganui for around 10 years, I grew up in the UK so this weather is really extreme for me, still adjusting. I've been trying to keep in the shade as much as possible. If it gets too hot we just stay indoors."
Megan Fairclough, Whanganui
"It's been pretty unbearable hasn't it? I've spend a lot of time outdoors but we do have air conditioning at work. The flies are shocking this year. But back in the day summers used to get really hot, we spent most of our time down at the school pool, it was great. I hope we have a few more summers like this."
Motea Maravu, Whanganui
"It's definitely different to last year, a lot hotter, we've all noticed it. We've had the fan on constantly inside and we make the most of the wind and shade but I'm from Fiji and it's not as hot as Fiji so I can handle it better than some people can."
Kelera Kuruyabaki, Whanganui
"The heat has sometimes been unbearable, much hotter than last year that's for sure. It seems to be more humid than previous years. It makes you want to go for lots of swims to cool off."
Krista Gerrits, Canada
"We've been fine. We are used to humid weather being from Canada. Right now it is winter time back home so it is a big adjustment coming from winter weather straight into summer heat but we are coping. A fan would be nice but we don't have one so relying on water for now."
