A Whanganui intersection is rapidly becoming a danger zone after three collisions in as many months.
The Anzac Pde and Portal St intersection at the foot of Durie Hill has been the scene of 12 crashes in the last five years, according to New Zealand Transport Association (NZTA).
From those 12 crashes, reported between January 1, 2012 and November 7, 2017, five ended with no injury, six with minor injuries and one collision in 2012 resulted in serious injuries.
The most common crash type was rear end obstruction, accounting for half of the crashes.
NZTA data showed poor observation, lack of judgment and failing to stop as the main reasons for the crashes.
Only one crash was due to road factors.
