If you fancy yourself as a 1950s jet-setter, you'll need to be quick to secure a ticket for November's The Cocktail Lounge event.
The Cocktail Lounge, a fundraiser for Women's Refuge Whanganui, is billed as a 1950s-style party with cocktails, retro-styled food and entertainment. It will be a relaxed event with a lounge vibe and tickets are limited to 160 guests.
"Ticket sales are going well and people need to be quick," organising committee member Kristine Dickson said.
"It's a 'first in, first served' basis and until the ticket money is in our account, tickets are not guaranteed."
The evening will include 1950s-style entertainment by professional song-and-dance trio The Starlets, a live auction, a whiskey bar and romantic comedy film Some Like It Hot playing in the background.
Last year's glittering event, The Great Ball, raised more than $90,000 for Women's Refuge Whanganui and the aim is to raise $30,000 from this year's smaller event.
Funds from The Cocktail Lounge will go toward bigger premises for the refuge, which is stretched by increasing client numbers and increasingly complex client needs, as well as continuing the refuge's work.
The Cocktail Lounge will be held on Saturday, November 4, at Heritage House. Tickets can be ordered via www.thegreatball.nz.
