Whanganui will get the chance to feel the "Jacinda effect" just days before the election.
Labour leader Jacinda Ardern (pictured) - whose elevation to the top job has resurrected the party's fortunes - is expected to visit the town in the final week of the campaign.
Whanganui Labour candidate Steph Lewis said Ms Ardern planned to be here on September 18. She would be in town for the day and would be at Majestic Square from 12pm to 1pm to meet the public.
"I'm incredibly excited," Ms Lewis said. "I'm really rapt she's looking at making time in her schedule to come to Whanganui."
Meanwhile, the latest polls have Ms Lewis and National candidate Harete Hipango neck and neck.
