The re-development of the former AA building on Whanganui's Victoria Ave is almost complete and two new tenants are open for business.
Shampoo Plus and Vivo Hair and Beauty are the first of five confirmed businesses to take up residence in the new precinct.
Shampoo Plus manager Sarah Hale said they have not seen a lot of customers during the first week but she expects that to change once the other tenants move in.
"I don't think many people know we're here yet," she said.
Ms Hale is a qualified hairdresser able to offer consultations on which products and tools customers should use.
"We have got everything needed for home hairdressing," she said.
She said Shampoo Plus will be open for business on Saturdays from 9 to 5 as well as weekdays.
The other confirmed tenants are Cotton On, Backdoor Surf and 141 Bakery & Cafe.
Cafe owner Prathna Sok said the cafe will be his second one in Victoria Ave and the original one at 141 Victoria Ave will remain open.
"We are opening a second one with the same name," he said.
"We hope to open the new one is about two weeks."
There is also another potential tenant to be confirmed which means the renovated building will be fully tenanted.
Wallace Developments purchased the building from AA and worked with local contractors W&W Construction to develop a modern retail space while preserving the buildings heritage facade.
