Running rally tyres failed to hold Bryce Hackett back in the wet to take out round two of four Wanganui Car Club autocross series on Sunday.
Driving his Hackett Racing Primera, Hackett missed posting a time in practice, but sped around the Loader's Quarry track significantly quicker than most during his three runs. All his rivals had four runs.
Hackett's best run was his second clocking 1m 05.63s.
While the day was a beautiful still, warm winter's day at the quarry at Maxwell, there was enough wet on the track to make conditions exciting for spectators and challenging for drivers.
Twelve entrants competed driving an assortment of cars categorised as either 2WD or as running on rally tyres.
Although the driving was spectacular at times, there were no incidents and everyone enjoyed a great event. The next autocross is planned for Sunday, August 27.
