It's official - Whanganui women are in business.
Last month a group of ambitious women met at Mischief cafe on Guyton Street to re-establish a networking group for local wahine interested in business.
Next Wednesday evening at the Grand Hotel a launch party will kickstart the initiative.
Chamber of Commerce chief executive Marianne Archibald said the event would be an opportunity for all women, along with supporters of women in business, to mingle and network.
"The main idea is to inspire and connect women to each other with tools and interesting speakers."
Ms Archibald said at the moment there is a huge appetite for something like this and the fact that it is a collaborative group means that it draws in women from all walks of life.
"Within a day we sold 50 tickets. There are 150 available and we are certain it will be a sell-out event."
There are 10 women running the network and there will be monthly events.
Ms Archibald said there was much to be excited about for the launch party next week.
"There will be nibbles, drinks, goodie bags and spot prizes. We also have a surprise guest speaker which should built on the anticipation."
Tickets are available for $15 at the Royal Wanganui Opera House. Alternatively people can phone (06) 349 0511 or buy online via http://royaloperahouse.co.nz/index.php/bookings
