There's been lots of singing rehearsals at Wanganui Collegiate as students prepared for their annual house singing competition.
The competition was held on Friday and Saturday at the school's Prince Edward Auditorium, and involved every single pupil in the school.
Collegiate's director of music, Richard Ellsworth, said the school's pupils were divided into six houses, and the houses competed against each other for top honours.
Each house had to produce two songs: a part song, which could have up to 20 singers; and a house song, which every pupil in the house had to take part in. The students also had to take care of the song's presentation, such choreography, backing music and technical aspects.
"The students have been rehearsing since the start of the term. It's very full-on - it's one of the major events for the year at Collegiate," Mr Ellsworth said.
The first performance was on Thursday, the live judging was on Friday afternoon, and there were other performances to which parents and local primary schools were invited.
The judges are Melissa Hawkins, who has been involved with Amdram, and David Selfe, a choirmaster, composter and music producer.
Mr Ellsworth said every year the competition has a theme, and this year's theme was "numbers, shapes and symbols".
So students chose songs such as "Working 9 to 5", "Mambo No 5", "Eight Days a Week" and "Hip to be Square".
