While hype circulates the nation over the world famous sailing race, in Whanganui there are people who have never even heard of the America's Cup.
Elsie Buico, orginially from the Philippines and now living in Whanganui, was one of those people.
"I don't know anything about the America's Cup... is it a sporting event?"
Others, like father and son Ratano and Sabbath Tai, had heard a little but again didn't know much.
"I mean I see it on the news a bit but haven't been watching," Mr Tai said.
Seventeen-year-old Amelya Marshall shared a similar response.
"I don't know much about it and I haven't been watching."
But amongst the many there was one joining in on the cheers. Dianne Ellery thought the America's Cup was exciting.
"I think it's exciting New Zealand is being showcased on an international stage and I think we are doing really well," Ms Ellery said.
It's crunch time in Bermuda and people from all over the world are watching in anticipation as Team New Zealand challenges the defenders, Oracle Team USA, for the Auld Mug.
The race has been smooth sailing so far for Team New Zealand, winning the first four races. But they need to win four more races to take home the glory.
After the teams have taken a five-day break to tweak their boats and crew, the next two races will take place on Sunday followed by two more on Monday.
