Ewen Stratford has extended an invitation to other artists to join him in exhibiting work at Arts@Centre next month.
Stratford says he has around 30 paintings to fill the large gallery at the centre and he has booked the smaller gallery for other artists to share.
After a major stroke left him with paralysis, Stratford learned to paint with his left hand, making watercolour and gouache paintings of mostly rural scenes.
More recently the artist has moved to portraiture and his new exhibition will feature depictions of music artists like Joe Cocker.
One of the artists who has committed to putting work in to the group exhibition is Whanganui's Sandra Brumby.
"I've always been a Beatles fan," she says of her work that features caricatures of the four Liverpudlians.
"My work is about portraying the things I like and enjoy and I'm looking forward to exhibiting with a group."
Richard Reading, Jan Eden, Kate St Amand, Beatrice Horrell and Pauline Handley have all committed to contributing works for the exhibition.
The Stratford Studio Art Expo with Invited Guests opens at 19 Taupo Quay, 5.30pm on Friday July 28.
