On Sunday, May 28, soprano Deborah Wai Kapohe and pianist Bruce Greenfield will present La Belle Epoque (The Beautiful Age) concert at the Whanganui War Memorial Centre concert chamber.
This concert features some of the finest examples of French Melodie, including songs by Ravel, Bizet and Duparc for soprano and piano.
The songs were written between 1870 and 1925, when Paris was emerging as the musical capital of Europe.
"I think that German music kisses you on the forehead and French music on the neck," wrote Gerard Souzay.
This is part of a series of performances under the banner of Musicians for the Sarjeant, a fundraising group for the gallery's redevelopment project.
