Four special aircraft will make a flypast of the Whanganui, Rangitikei and Manawatu districts on Anzac Day morning.
For the ninth year in a row, a 1944 Supermarine Spitfire and a 1945 Grumman Avenger from the Biggin Hill Historic Aircraft Collection at RNZAF Ohakea will take part in the flypast on April 25.
Brendon Deere from Biggin Hill said this year the two aircraft would be joined by two aircraft from the Royal New Zealand Air Force to mark its 80th anniversary.
"A 1942 North American Harvard from the RNZAF Historic Flight and one of the new Beechcraft Texan 2 aircraft will join the Spitfire and Avenger on ANZAC Day making a truly unique four ship formation," Mr Deere said.
"The RNZAF Historic Flight Harvard is marking 75 years of continuous RNZAF service this year and has recently returned to the skies in its original wartime delivery colour scheme after an extensive restoration."
Mr Deere said the four aircraft would be flown by experienced RNZAF pilots.
The Spitfire will be flown by Squadron Leader Sean Perrett, the Avenger by Squadron
Leader Jim Rankin, the Beechcraft Texan by Squadron Leader Hayden Sheard and the Harvard by Flight Lieutenant Stu Anderson.
