It wasn't me - it was my mate in the dress.
That was the claim of Scott Pedley whose night on the town turned south when he decided to hold on to his friend's drugs.
Whanganui District Court heard that the pair had hit the town for his friend's stag do on January 21 and, in the spirit of the occasion, the husband-to-be had worn a dress.
But the scantily-clad number lacked pockets, so Pedley was tasked with holding the man bag of MDMA the active ingredient in ecstasy.
Police prosecutor Drew Morrison told the court on Tuesday that Pedley was arrested on that night at 10.45pm for an unrelated matter.
As police searched him they came across a plastic bag with 0.53 grams of the white powder. When questioned by police Pedley refused to reveal his mate's name.
Pedley pleaded guilty to one charge of possessing a class B stimulant, with his lawyer
Richard Leith explaining that his client had simply been holding the drugs for his friend.
Mr Leith said the fulltime builder did not take drugs.
Judge Philip Crayton ordered Pedley to pay a $400 fine.
