The smoke and sparks coming from the car were a bit of a giveaway for police.
Whanganui District Court heard that on the evening of December 23, police observed Adriana Kanara driving down Dublin Street with sparks and smoke coming from underneath her car.
When police pulled her over they found the front tyre of her vehicle had been popped and a back tyre was severely warped.
When she was breath tested for alcohol she gave a reading of 983mcg, almost four times the legal limit.
She told police she was trying to get the car home but gave no explanation for the damage.
Kanara pleaded guilty in on Tuesday to one count of driving with excess breath alcohol and driving in a dangerous manner.
Judge Philip Crayton expressed concern that Kanara was so intoxicated that she obviously crashed the car and then tried to drive it home in such a dangerous state.
He postponed sentencing until May 12 and gave her a zero alcohol license until that time.
