St George's School pupils started the 2017 new school year in a brand new campus.
The custom-built campus is located within the Wanganui Collegiate school campus, but has its own driveway that opens onto Liverpool St.
The school year started with a powhiri to welcome the school community, including 28 new students and their families. This was followed by a blessing and the cutting of a ribbon by headmaster Andrew Osmond, head boy Elliott Jones and head girl Sami Harrison, to open the new campus.
Mr Osmond said the new campus was an exciting way to celebrate the school's 90th year.
"It's fantastic to have a wonderful new home, a base and focal point for our students while they continue to enjoy and benefit from Collegiate's exceptional technology and music suites, art studios and science labs, sports turfs and swimming pool," he said.
The campus is built around a central courtyard, and has bright, modern classrooms and communal spaces for the students.
Mr Osmond said the entire St George's community had worked hard to make the move possible.
"A huge thank you to all our staff and families for making it possible to open our doors."
Mr Osmond said it was now business as usual as St George's settles into the new term in its new home and prepares for an official opening and 90th anniversary celebration on Sunday, February 19, with tours for the public 1pm-2pm.
