Three Whanganui City College students were out in the rain collecting for breast cancer awareness yesterday.
The three young men said they were happy to do their bit for a good cause and hope the funds raised will help pay for medicines to effectively treat breast cancer.
"My Nan has been through treatment so I have seen how tough it can be," said Bayley Mihaka.
The Pink Ribbon street appeal which continues today is just one of the fund raising activities organised by the Breast Cancer Foundation this month.
On average, eight women are diagnosed with breast cancer each day and the foundation's mission is to prevent New Zealanders developing and dying from breast cancer and support women with the disease.
"Men can get breast cancer too," said Lenox Fold.
Although the disease is far less common in men, around 20 men in New Zealand are diagnosed with breast cancer each year and the symptoms and treatments are the same as those for women.
