Members of the Wanganui Rock 'n' Roll Club showed pre-schoolers some smooth moves at the YMCA on Wednesday.

Karen and Ned Bullock with Jan and Barry Barnes demonstrated some classic rock and roll dances for the children before they hit the floor to try it for themselves.

Early childhood teacher Joanna Saunders said the visit was part of the creative and expressive learning module at the YMCA preschool centre.

"It's about communication through arts and how people express themselves through different art forms.

"We had a hip hop group in last week and the children really enjoyed that."

The Wanganui Rock 'n' Roll Club runs classes and competitions for all ages and runs competitions at a local, regional and national level for competitive members as well as participating in the NZ Masters games biannually.
