Kevin Rennie of Rutherford Junior High is the latest Whanganui recipient of a Sir Peter Blake Young Leadership Award.

Presented with a medal and prize pack at a special school assembly on Friday, Kevin, 12, was nominated by the school for showing leadership in sport, academic and artistic endeavours at school.

Each year the Sir Peter Blake Trust, with foundation partner Westpac, makes one award per school, to a Year 5-8 student who is identified as being a fantastic leader.

Kevin's parents, Mike and Marlene, and his twin sisters Carrie and Teresa 10, were at the assembly to see Kevin receive his award from Ben Aitken of Westpac.

Mr Rennie said it was an honour for his son to get such recognition.

Akshima Marwah of Brunswick School and Mia Perkins of Whanganui Intermediate have also received Sir Peter Blake awards this year.
