An auction of vintage cars will be held in Whanganui this weekend.
Auctioneer Graham Hawtree said 22 cars would be auctioned, along with many car-related items such as hand tools, mechanical items, old car number plates, drill presses, and a few antiques.
Many of the 490 lots were the property of Mr Hawtree's cousin, Horice Guildford, who died recently.
Among the cars for sale is Mr Guildford's kit set 1915 Dodge Roadster.
"It was something that he started but never finished," Mr Hawtree said.
"The fact it's in pieces might put some people off. But in the hands of the right person, once it's restored it will be worth a lot of money. There aren't many of these vehicles left in the country."
Another valuable car in the auction is a partially 1933 Cadillac.
Mr Hawtree said Mr Guildford lived in Waverley and Patea and was a radio serviceman. He later moved to Whanganui and opened a business called River City Rewinds, specialising in the rewinding of electric motors.
"He was very keen on his cars," Mr Hawtree said.
The auction will be held at Boyd's Auto Barn, corner Pickwick Rd and SH3, on July 24 starting at 10am. Viewing will be held 10am-4pm on July 23.
