About 20 members of Whanganui's Friendship Force gathered yesterday for their monthly activity - with this month's being a "pea, pie and spud" meal.

President Donna Hall said there was "generally a lot of eating involved" in their monthly activities.

"It's just a club activity to get together."

She said the club works with other clubs around the world to send people on overseas exchange visits.

There would be a group visiting from Japan in October to improve their English, she said.

Whanganui's club had a couple of people who were heading off on exchanges in the next few days.
