Georgia Maclean from the Taihape Gymnastics Club wowed the spectators at the Whanganui Regional Gymnastic Championships at the Springvale Stadium last Saturday.
The 7-year-old took first place on the beam and first place on the vault in her age group for the region in her first competition.
Mum Tania Maclean said it was very exciting for Georgia, as it was her first competition.
Georgia started going to gymnastic classes in August but by the time last weekend's competition came round she was getting fed up with going to practice twice a week, Tania said.
"But her wins have given her renewed interest," Tania said.
On the way home from Whanganui Georgia was so tired she fell asleep, then had to be woken for her surprise birthday party at home.
The boys from the Taihape club also did extremely well.
Coach Marty Loughan said they won several medals. "They are a really good bunch of kids and they work hard."
