The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter completed five missions and conducted Search and Rescue hoist training in the week up until Sunday.
On February 15 the crew flew a morning mission to Taihape for a motor vehicle accident involving two cars. One of the patients, a woman in her 30s, was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. The Taranaki Rescue Helicopter transported a second patient from the scene.
On February 16 a morning mission to a property near Foxton was required for a man in his 70s injured in a quad bike accident. He was airlifted to Palmerston North Hospital. Later that afternoon the helicopter was dispatched to Taihape for a man in his 20s with a medical emergency. He was airlifted to Whanganui hospital.
On Wednesday the crew flew an afternoon mission to Taihape for a man in his 50s with a medical emergency. He was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital.
On Saturday the helicopter was needed for a late flight to Ohakune for a woman who had been knocked down by a horse. The woman, in her 50s, was airlifted to Whanganui Hospital for treatment of her injuries.
The mission was completed with the aid of Night Vision Goggles.
The Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter covers the Whanganui and Ruapehu. The service is run by the Philips Search and Rescue Trust, a charity.
