One lucky Ohakune resident woke up $6.8 million richer yesterday after striking the lottery jackpot on Saturday night.
The winning ticket was sold at Take Note Ohakune and was made up of $6.5 million from Powerball first division and $333,333 from Lotto first division.
Another Lotto player from Raetihi was the joint winner of Strike Four, winning $200,000. The winner ticket was sold at Pricecutter Four Square, Raetihi.
It is the third Powerball win in under a month. In January a family from Timaru won $7 million with Powerball first division. The lucky winners slept with their winning ticket until they were able to claim their windfall at Lotto NZ's Auckland office.
Three weeks ago, a couple from Hamilton also won Powerball first division and took home $7.5 million on the last Lotto draw of 2015.
Two other Lotto players from Pukekohe and Dargaville also won $333,333 last night. The winning Lotto tickets were sold at Pak 'N Save Pukekohe and Dargaville Four Square.
Anyone who bought their ticket from the any of the above winning stores should write their name on the back of the ticket and check it immediately at any Lotto outlet, online at mylotto.co.nz or through the Lotto NZ ticket-checker app.
