A boy who was concussed when he fell off a swing was one of the patients the Palmerston North Rescue Helicopter took to hospital last week.

The 10-year-old Rotorua boy was in Raetihi on Saturday when he fell and suffered a serious concussion, helicopter communication manager Vanessa Richmond said.

"He was flown to Whanganui Hospital accompanied by his mother," she said.

Other missions for the rescue crew last week included a flight to Ohakune on Monday for a woman in her 40s who was suffering a medical emergency.

She was flown to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition.

Another person suffered a medical event on Wednesday. The man, in his 60s, was taken from Taihape to Whanganui in a serious condition.

On Thursday, a rescue crew headed out to Raetihi for a man in his 40s. He was also flown to Whanganui Hospital in a serious condition.

The final emergency for the week was for a Taihape woman on Saturday.
