A scrub fire at Balgownie has been brought under control.
Firefighters were called to the fire on the corner of Rogers St and Hinau St this afternoon.
High winds spread smoke from the fire across parts of Castlecliff and Gonville towards the CBD.
The fire covered about 100m by 30m and took about 30 minutes to bring under control.
It was not yet known what started the fire.
"We are not sure at the moment," assistant area commander Gary Ward said. "We're investigating the cause."
Fire fighters were called to the scene at about 3:20pm and found the fire was spreading across a patch of regenerating bush on what was an old rubbish dump.
"When we got here obviously it was spreading with the high winds," Mr Ward said. "We've now go four appliances."
"I think it's spread from the adjoining property. Our focus was on controlling and extinguishing. The wind was pushing it along a bit quicker."
The fire was under control by about 4pm but fire fighters will remain to ensure it is out.
