IT'S ALL about horses for young mum Nicole Sinclair on a farm just north of Waverley.
Horses are her passion - so much so she set up a cottage industry eight months ago, Nic's Woody Goodies.
From her workshop Nicole crafts a range of tiny stables, horse arenas, show jumps and the ultimate barn set up for littler lovers of all things equestrian.
"Customers just need to provide their own small horses."
The orders, especially among families in the horse world, are coming in steadily which means Nicole is hammering, painting and sawing every night after her two children Thomas, 4, and Hannah, 2, have gone to bed.
"I try not to work past midnight, but I do get very involved in making them."
Now she's just hit upon making tiny floral horse blankets as well.
Thomas and Hannah love the toys and are very keen on test-driving them out for their mum.
But sometimes she has to remove the wooden toys so they remain pristine for clients.
"It's great that they love them, but I do have to watch what's going on."
Even though there are plenty of orders coming through with Nicole featuring them on Facebook and on the internet, she is hoping to make enough stock to set up a stall at the River Traders Market in Wanganui before Christmas.
While she makes toys, her toddler Hannah is already at home on the real thing.
She competed in her first pony club competition at just 16 months old and brought home a swag of ribbons, Nicole said.
"She started trotting a few weeks ago and loves it. She's fearless."
This year Hannah is entering two more pony club competitions in Hawera and Wanganui, Nicole said. "Well she's a big girl now, she was 2 in June."
Nicole laughs when she said Hannah flatly refuses to wear anything other than little jodphurs and riding boots. "I'm hoping to make her some dresses this summer and hoping she will actually wear them. We'll see."
