A man with a history of indecent assault against young girls has been convicted again, this time for inappropriately touching two children.
Christopher David Davis was sent to prison on Tuesday for indecent assault against two girls, aged 8 and 12.
Davis pleaded guilty to the offending, which happened in 2010 when he was helping someone paint the inside of their house.
He picked up the two victims from their mother and took them to the house with him.
He indecently touched each girl, Judge Allan Roberts said in the Whanganui District Court.
"The summary doesn't suggest skin-on-skin contact," Judge Roberts said.
Davis has previous convictions for sexual offending, including three convictions for having a sexual connection with a girl under 12, indecently assaulting a girl under 12, and possessing objectionable publications.
He is currently a sentenced prisoner.
Crown prosecutor Harry Mallalieu asked for a final sentence of between six and nine months in prison, on top of the current sentence, while defence lawyer Richard Leith asked for three to six months.
Following a sentence indication, Davis pleaded guilty and was sentenced to eight months in prison.
He was given a strike warning under the three strikes law.
