The elderly Wanganui driver of a car that rolled near Sanson remains in a serious but stable condition in Palmerston North Hospital.
Eighty-year-old Huia Reweti-Henere was driving her two friends home to Wanganui from a Mormon conference in Palmerston North when her car rolled on State Highway 3.
Her son, Phillip Reweti-Bear, said his mother was in the intensive care unit yesterday with four broken ribs, a head wound, a broken leg and finger.
Despite her injuries, "she's not too bad," he said.
Her front seat passenger, a 63-year-old woman, had leg and wrist injuries, while the woman in the back seat suffered bruising, Mr Reweti-Bear said.
"They were on their way back home to Wanganui."
Family members were hoping Mrs Reweti-Henere would soon be able to be transferred to Wanganui. He suspected she had suffered a minor heart attack or fainted at the wheel, given her age. No other vehicle was involved in the accident.
