Eleven-year-old Stafford Lithgow spent the last week of the summer holidays painting a picture of the Fonterra tanker that collects milk from his parents' farm near Wanganui.
He got the image from a photo taken by his mum, Andrea, and entered a children's competition in Fonterra's Farm Source magazine.
Stafford does art at Westmere School. He has painted a tractor for a neighbour and calves for his grandmother.
The Fonterra competition inspired him to concentrate - "I think it was just the idea of winning something ... he wanted to see what he would get," Mrs Lithgow said.
Stafford drew a pencil outline then painted it in acrylic on canvas. Fonterra was flooded with entries and Stafford was excited to be the senior winner - the model milk tanker he won is now on the family's mantelpiece.
The Lithgow farm in Kaikokopu Rd has a herd of 440.
