Whanganui Regional Museum have been getting into Bike Wise month, combining cycling with history.
Yesterday external relations officer Kyle Dalton led a historic cycle tour of Wanganui taking in significant sites such as Rutland Boulder at Queen's Park. "It was just a cycle tour of hard-to-find monuments in Wanganui," he said.
"The things that if you were driving in your car you would miss."
About 12 cyclists joined Mr Dalton touring the city, while being provided with oral history at each stop.
The two-hour tour, which happened within the city, finished outside the National Bank, the site of the first Wanganui Cycle Club.
"We had lots of fun."
Mr Dalton is also hosting a "history of cycling" talk at the Whanganui Regional Museum's Davis Theatre tomorrow night.
The presentation starts at 7pm and draws on the museum's cycling images. Mr Dalton will discuss the history of cycling in New Zealand and Wanganui.
