Whanganui District councillor Jack Bullock was in court yesterday for driving while suspended.
The 24-year-old pleaded guilty to the charge in Whanganui District Court.
It was discovered he was driving while suspended when police spoke to him at a routine stop in Moana St on January 21.
He told police he thought the suspension had finished, police prosecutor Sergeant Drew Morrison said.
Bullock, who represented himself in court, declined to make any comment on his offending to Judge Dugald Matheson.
He was fined $400 and court costs of $130.
He was disqualified from driving for a further six months, starting on March 19.
In February 2014, Bullock completed diversion and avoided prosecution for possession of cannabis, and last month he had his tenancy terminated by the Tenancy Tribunal after owing more than $1000 in unpaid rent.
