The clock is ticking on the countdown to Wanganui's biggest event of 2015. At 7pm this evening, the Southern Trust New Zealand Masters Games will be officially opened in the Games Village by Springvale Stadium.
However, you can still enter your chosen sport as long as it has not already full. The status of each sport, including closing dates, are on the Masters Games website.
And remember, even if your team has entered already, you still need to make sure that all members are registered before the deadline. As a supporter, you can register for your pass anytime up until the final day - Sunday, February 8.
If you're a Masters Games veteran, you'll know that the opening ceremony is something quite special; if you're a first timer, here's a snapshot of what you can expect:
Hosts Craig and Sue from More FM radio will welcome you to the 26th NZ Masters Games before the procession of the more than 55 sports into the arena.
There will be words from Games sports ambassador and top bowls exponent Sean Johnson and from Wanganui Events Trust chairman Trevor Strong.
The event will finish with the lighting of the Games torch which symbolises the official opening ... and then the party will commence. The crowd can expect one grand old hoedown with entertainment from our resident DJ Ron Heaps and four-piece band Shenanigans.
The Games Village will host talented locals and visiting bands each. After 6pm, only ID holders will be allowed in the village when the main marquee comes to life. Every night at 7pm the Interislander Masters Quiz begins with some great prizes up for grabs.
